New York-based designers Jenny Cheng and Esther Gauntlett are open about how they financially support their city lives and their fashion label, Gauntlett Cheng.
Cheng works with a knit consultant, assisting in swatch and garment development for big brands such as Calvin Klein and Coach. Gauntlett works at skin-care company Aesop. After days in the corporate world, they head to their decidedly un-corporate Williamsburg studio—the same workroom that once quartered Eckhaus Latta, where the duo met as interns.
