Sébastien Meunier was born in Versailles in 1974.
He graduated from ESMOD, the Paris-based fashion school, in 1997. Shortly after, in 1998, he won the Grand prix du Jury Mode at the fr:Festival international de mode et de photographie in Hyères for his menswear collection. Sébastien Meunier then assisted Jean Colonna for one year before launching his eponymous menswear label in 2000. The same year, he began to work with Martin Margiela, successively designing women's and men's collections while running his own brand until 2006. In 2010 Sébastien Meunier left Maison Martin Margiela and joined Ann Demeulemeester in Antwerp as head designer for men's. In 2013, following her decision to retire from the fashion industry, Ann Demeulemeester chose him as her successor at the helm of the Maison she founded in 1985.
Sébastien Meunier currently lives in Antwerp. He has a notable passion for cars, his personal collection including vintage Jaguar and Rolls-Royce.
Ann Demeulemeester is a fashion house established in 1985 and based in Antwerp, Belgium. Renowned for a poetic balance of shadow and light, the collections for women and men evoke a serene and romantic universe nuanced with a rock spirit. Masculine and feminine elements are woven throughout each collection, as signature silhouettes fuse languid tailoring in noble fabrics with sensual asymmetries and the twist of sheer and opaque textiles. Entwined with classicism and the radical touch of music and contemporary art, each design captures strength and sensitivity in equal parts.
